The WDS System
MoriahCom WDS’s unique smart client architecture allows mobile workers to be more productive all the time, whether they are in or out of wireless coverage. Its intelligent client/server synch process allows mobile devices to operate independently, even when wireless access is disabled or not available.
- WDS Sync Server, the configurable desktop application, seamlessly and securely connects the mobile devices to the job cost application data using multiple-layer security.
- WDS JobSite, the mobile application, allows operators to access project data and create new reports in the field, which are uploaded to your job cost application.
Synchronization
MoriahCom WDS offers one of the best data synchronization technologies in the market. Its change-log-based sync engine offers optimized data-transfer for low-bandwidth and unreliable wireless networks. By detecting changes in the database, applications can quickly and efficiently synchronize offline data with the server-side database.
MoriahCom WDS technology allows operators to access data and enter reports even when they are outside wireless data coverage. The operator initiates data transfer with the WDS Sync Server from within the mobile application, allowing affordable, flexible and secure batch transactions.

Connection Options
Because service engineers have different needs, wirelessly enabling a mobile workforce requires options based on cost, coverage, communication needs, and frequency of communication required.
MoriahCom WDS is one of the few products in the world to support all major mobile communications protocols concurrently on a single server. This allows you to choose the most efficient wireless options for your operation and leads to increased scalability and reduced acquisition and support costs.
Because WDS utilizes Windows Services technology to manage the connection between the Sync Server and the mobile application, reliable choices are provided:
- Cradle Synchronization – Mobile data can be synchronized through the desktop cradle. The desktop computer can be connected to the corporate network or can connect to the internet.
- Mobile Synchronization – Mobile devices can be connected to the network or the internet through Wi-Fi or other wireless data connections, a cell phone modem, or network cable.

Cost Effective and Secure

To protect corporate data, mobile data can pass through a firewall via One-to-One NAT utilizing a configurable port to the WDS Sync Server
Mobile Data Verification
With MoriahCom WDS, submitting daily field reports is done electronically, in real time. Your global mobile workforce is empowered with wireless access to all the information they need — when and where they need it — to efficiently and profitably complete jobs, consistently meet contractual agreements, and exceed customer expectations every time.
Mobile connections to the WDS Sync Server are authorized in two interactions:
- Registration Code and Device ID – the registration code and device identification to which that code is registered is verified during login.
- User Name and Password – the user name and password is verified during login. A user may not be connected to the WDS Sync Server multiple times concurrently.
One WDS Sync Servercan handle up to 200 concurrent users. These users are connected to an employee record within your job cost application. Each mobile device requires a separate license key.
Robust and Reliable
We understand that a key element to developing a successful mobile application is seamless integration with existing company systems. Our suite of mobile solutions support existing enterprise infrastructures and provide your IT team with a single, solid platform upon which they can continue to build and add more mobile applications as business needs dictate.
To ensure that critical data from the mobile device integrates safely with your application, the WDS Sync Server manages transactional batches. If a synchronization session cannot complete due to loss of connection, or any other failure, the next time the mobile device connects, the synchronization continues from the previous stopping point.
MoriahCom WDS also has the capability to quickly restores all WDS data and the application — via storage card replacement — in the event of a device failure.
These data security functions can save hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in annual maintenance costs and significantly increase field service engineer productivity.
